Stainless Steel 904L Sheets (UNS N08904) plates offer excellent corrosion resistance against pitting and crevices, excellent corrosion resistance against stress-corrosion cracking, good strength. To assure quality in our products, Bullion Pipes conducts multiple quality tests on our products. Stainless Steel 904L plates are extremely resistant to chloride in environment due to lower pitting and crevice corrosion, and also to stress corrosion cracking. The L in 904L stands for Low Carbon, in particular, that the carbon added in the alloy is 0.03 or less. The 904L grade is good both in cold and hot forms, but is hard to work with when working in cold. Because of the high corrosion-resistance of alloy 904L under wide-range process conditions, the alloy is used extensively.

Stainless Steel 904L Sheets Details

904L is also an austenitic alloy, meaning a non-magnetic solid solution of ferric carbide or carbon is used within the iron for increased corrosion resistance. It is generally used for applications including acid-processing plants, pulp-and-paper operations, equipment to cool seawater, oil refineries, and environmental protection devices. The chemical-processing industry makes heavy use of 904L stainless steel because of its wide corrosion resistance.

Applications for 904L stainless steel sheets are limited by ASME maximum heat at 1,000degF, further showing its good heat tolerance, and it is usable in most of the standard methods.Lyn steel capability to provide 904L stainless steel sheets in design-based is one of our strongest capabilities and is unmatched in our industry. Stainless Steel 904L Chequer Sheets & Chequer Plates are the lower-carbon versions of Grade 304 that offer superior formability and welding characteristics.

Why purchase 904L stainless steel sheet?

904L stainless steel sheet is a Type 1, High Carbon-Chromium Stainless Steel. It has moderate corrosion resistance to reducing acids, particularly in the presence of chlorides, and especially at elevated temperatures, more so than other low-carbon austenitic steels.

Stainless Steel 904l sheets is an austenitic material with low carbon content and is used in a wide range of applications. Grade 904L is ideal for cryogenic applications because it offers high formability, excellent strength and resistance to high heat as well as corrosion resistance.

Grade 904L is commercially pure, containing from 0.03% to 0.07 % carbon and 17% chromium, with most of the remainder made up of nickel and molybdenum. Grade 904L has good chemical and corrosion resistance even at high temperatures but its advantage over 430 etc is that it has greater weldability so easier to fabricate.

Stainless steel is used in a wide variety of applications, including construction. It can be used to make cooking utensils, machinery, electronic products and building materials. Grade 904L stainless steel comes in many forms and has a variety of uses.

Stainless Steel 904L Sheet (7)

Stainless steel 904L is an austenitic chromium-nickel-iron alloy with minimal carbon and molybdenum content. This alloy exhibits good corrosion resistance to oxidizing sulphuric and hydrochloric acids, as well as chloride solutions.

Grade 904L is a low carbon variation of 304 or 18-8 stainless steel. It is primarily used in gas and steam turbine blades, hot water tanks, chemical plants, nuclear reactors and other demanding applications which require high corrosion resistance. Grade 904L is used because of its superior mechanical properties over grade 304 stainless steel. The alloy has a high tensile strength to weight ratio and is 100% nonmagnetic which makes it ideal for vibration dampening applications like kitchen sinks.

It gets magnetic when higher alloying elements are added to the mix so don’t worry about it being magnetic. Grade 904L has a better resistance to localized corrosion such as pitting and crevice corrosion than grade 304 stainless steel but it isn’t recommended for use in environments where the majority of corrosion happens under an anaerobic condition such as in acidic solutions or in chloride rich environments (pools).

Grade 904L stainless steel

Stainless Steel 904l sheets is a low-carbon version of SAE grade 304, which is a mainstay of general industrial and household plumbing. 904L stainless steel provides many of the same characteristics as 304, with a higher resistance to corrosion than most other grades of stainless steel. This makes it ideal for use in environments where corrosion is likely to occur.

Stainless Steel 904L is an austenitic hot-worked ferritic nickel-chromium martensitic stainless steel, containing approximately 12% chromium, as well as molybdenum and nitrogen. This grade has excellent corrosion resistance in more acidic environments than other common stainless steels such as 304 and 316. 904L is known for its ability to withstand extreme temperatures, plus it has exceptional high temperature strength and wear resistance.

Stainless Steel 904l sheets is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel. In the chemical industry, it is often used for chemical process equipment and pipelines in contact with corrosive alkaline solutions. It does not contain molybdenum but has high nickel content, which provides a better resistance to scaling and pitting.

Stainless Steel 904L Sheets are composed of the mixture of Chromium and Nickel. Grade 904L Stainless Steel Sheet has low carbon content, which makes the alloy ductile. Grade 904L is a precipitation hardening stainless steel that offers high resistance to corrosion and oxidation in service temperatures ranging from 843°F – 662°F (450°C – 350°C).

Most Proven Stainless steel 904L sheets

Stainless Steel 904l sheets is one of the most proven and versatile stainless steel grades. It offers excellent corrosion resistance combined with high creep resistance, good weldability and high strength at elevated temperatures.

Grade 904L is a nonoxidizing martensitic stainless steel with high strength, good ductility and excellent resistance to surface erosion at elevated temperatures. Unlike most austenitic products, Grade 904L is substantially nonmagnetic after tensile or cold forming. The high chromium content provides both corrosion resistance and high temperature properties.

Stainless Steel 904L Sheets is a low carbon, high alloy austenitic stainless steel. It has a high degree of resistance to both atmospheric and other forms of corrosion and is highly resistant to localized pitting.

The Stainless Steel 904l sheets is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel that is known for its corrosion resistance, high strength, and low carbon content. In addition to these properties, the 904l stainless steel sheet also has excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking and is non-magnetic.

904L is a low carbon, high alloy austenitic stainless steel. It has excellent formability, weldability and corrosion resistance. It is used in chemical processing equipment, oil and gas exploration, marine and other high chloride environments.

904l is an austenitic stainless steel that contains high levels of chromium and nickel. It also contains small amounts of manganese, molybdenum, and copper. The high levels of chromium and nickel give 904l its corrosion resistant properties. The small amounts of manganese, molybdenum, and copper add to the strength and toughness of 904l.

Applications of Stainless Steel 904l sheets

904L is a low carbon, high alloy austenitic stainless steel which is widely used in applications where the corrosion properties of AISI 316L and AISI 317L are not adequate. The addition of copper to this grade gives it greatly improved resistance to strong reducing acids, particularly sulphuric acid. It is also highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking and pitting in chloride bearing environments.

In the oil and gas industry, 904L is often used in sour service environments where hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is present. It has also been successfully used in offshore oil and gas production platforms in sea water with chlorides present. In these cases, 904L has shown to provide superior corrosion resistance over conventional austenitic stainless steels such as 316L and 317L.

In the chemical process industry, 904L is used in handling sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid and numerous other acids. Due to its high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, it is also often used in chlorinated environments such as swimming pools and paper mills.

In the nuclear industry, 904L is specified for use in nuclear reactors because of its low carbon content which helps to prevent embrittlement of welds due to formation of martensite during cooling after welding.
